Our History

Sandton Hifz Academy was officially founded in 2018 in a businessman’s office in Kramerville. The Academy introduced itself with two teachers and four learners. SHA further relocated to a Doctors’ office after a few months. In 2019, SHA grew to 13 learners and in fulfilling the need, a house was rented in the Marlboro region. In the final quarter of 2019, a house was purchased and made Waqf to SHA in Kelvin, Sandton. The Academy has seen exponential growth ever since, through the Mercy of Allah Ta’ala. In 2020, SHA introduced a girls only campus.

In 2022 SHA undertook the task of building the boys campus in Kelvin. The 7 million rand project included 15 new classrooms, as well as an admin facility. The project was completed within a period of 6 months, Alhamdulillah.

Currently SHA has 125 learners and 35 teachers, as well as 5 support staff.

Staff members comprise of both Ulama and secular professionals.

Entry Into The Hifz Programme

Learners will enter the Hifz class at Grade 4 level or at a level enrolled by the parent. A pre-Hifz assessment will be conducted by the HOD to ascertain whether or not the learner will be accepted into SHA.

Learners will be assessed on:
-Fluency: the Quraan must be recited fluently
-Tajweed: it is obligatory that the Quraan is read with all the rules and regulations, and with the correct (Makhārij) pronunciation.

Once a learner is accepted at SHA, the learner will be required to complete the introductory Tajweed course. This reinforces the basic Tajweed rules.

Learners who enrolled at SHA in grade 6 and upwards will be allowed enrolment in the Hifz class if they pass the entrance exam.

Learners who cannot cope with the Hifz programme but are consistent, punctual and abide to the Hifz guidelines will be empowered through a Hifz enrichment programme.
